    Soaking needs to be done at least a few hours before planting, and preferably overnight. To prevent damping off when starting seeds indoors, it’s essential that you disinfect all of your pots, plastic grow trays, seed cells, and seedling tray covers before you reuse them.

    Can grow in plant containers in your balcony garden or inside near a sunny window. If you don’t have a suitable garden spot, try a container instead.  A pot that’s at least 8 inches wide and it has drainage holes. Due to sensitive roots, repotting is best avoided. Instead, make sure you choose a suitable growing container for your seeds right from the start.

    Cosmea seed produces tall plants with simple, striking, bright white flowers.

    Being half-hardy annuals, cosmos are best sown under cover in early spring.Sow in February to March in module trays, only lightly covering the seed with compost. They enjoy a temperature of 18-23°C to germinate, but can be in slightly cooler conditions after that. Once they start to grow strongly, pinch out the tips to create a bushier plant.

    When the weather warms in late spring, plant the seedlings outside. Alternatively, cosmos can be sown direct outside in May or June, in well-drained soil in full sun; however, the plants tend to be healthier if sown in early spring. For how to grow cosmos seeds outdoors, wait until the soil has warmed up, then: Cosmos don’t need any special soil preparation – in fact, a too rich soil will encourage foliage rather than flowers;

    Sow seeds lightly, spaced about 2-3in (5-8 cm) apart; Water until established but don’t over water as that can lead to less flowers. Flowers: July to October.
