About Us
My father was a farmer & mill owner from the Carpathian Mountains, where the soil is considered to have the most fertile soil on earth. He worked and understood the importance of biodiversity to enrich and provide for the wider ecosystem and made it his life’s work to encourage people to adopt these organic methods.
I learned that your garden is your own little patch of the world to look after and seeds are the hopes for the future. My parents' passion for farming went well beyond the logistical practicalities of farming itself. They were concerned with the entirety of the biodiversity of our earth, from the field to the end consumer’s table. Their idealism continues to inform my worldview.
Our mission is to collect, store, and regenerate the organic seeds of thousands of rare, heirloom, and open-pollinated varieties. Heirloom seeds constitute a critical part of the nation’s agricultural heritage and help ensure genetic diversity of plant species. We are dedicated to safeguarding this genetically stable source for our future generations. We can all play a part in preserving heirloom varieties for seed your gardens. We will continue our journey searching for additional varieties each season.
Expanding the range to varieties from all over the world but have yet to be introduced into the UK.
By growing our own flowers, fruit vegetables and herbs we are improving our health through consumption, reducing stress levels, improving air quality and our overall state of wellbeing. We need to remember that we are nature and not separate from it, and how we treat nature has profound effects upon our society and the earth.
There are a large number of fantastic organic gardening groups, clubs, organisations and gardens supporting local residents with their organic growing in the UK, there are over 15 million gardens. If all of these or even a small proportion were to grow organically the improvement to the environment would be immense
